CHAPTER 7

 

Everybody was occupied in the house running errands….chotu was taking care of the decoration…the mehendi ceremony was going to take place in the out house and the wedding in the main house….aparna was hyper ventilating,she rushed to abhay and said that ji the mehendi waali has not come yet and she has to apply mehendi to riya asap cause it will take for the mehendi to dry and the wedding is in the evening how will riya get ready in time if the mehendi ceremony is delayed now…hai rabba what are we going to do abhay everything was suppose to be perfect today and now everything is turning up side down….abhay was a bit amused seeing his wife like this he held her shoulder and said aparna please don’t take so much of tension everything will be fine aur piche mud kar dekho your mehendi waali has arrived…aparna turned around and sighed in relie.

Riya’s bed room

Arjun I have to get ready for the mehendi ceremony please abb mein phone rakhu..

Arjun:riya tum ek kaam karo you put the Bluetooth on so I can talk to you even when the ceremony is going on…I don’t believe this ritual its so unfair why are men not allowed to see their would be wifes during haldi and mehendi ceremony its so irritating.

Riya:she giggled and said its done because the excitement grows to see your bride after the gap of haldhi and mehendi ceremony and its also said to be a good omen to do so…but don’t worry I’ll be putting the Bluetooth on now so even I can talk to you and not miss you so much.

Arjun smiled listening to that and said in a husky voice the wait will end tonight jaan…i am so looking forward to spend my entire life with you…

Riya blushed hearing that and said me too arjun me too,acha now I am keeping the phone will call you when I am done getting dressed up okay.

Arjun left a dramatic sigh and said theek hai call back soon…I love you.

Riya turned red hearing that and replied in a soft voice I love you too arjun.

Mehendi venue…

Riya was wearing a lovely white and dark ping churidar for the mehendi ceremony she looked like a princes even when she was in the simplest of clothes.

Ritu was applying mehendi on riya’s hand it was a beautiful delicate design.

Sheen was video taping everything as per her arjun bhaiya’s instructions….she asked one of her friend to do the recording and went to where aparna was talking to guests…she said appy aunty yeh kaisi phiki mehendi hai no gaana bajana….aparna smiled warmly and said phiki toh hogi nah kyunki I was expecting you to sing and dance for you bhabhi…sheen smiled and said ohh toh ye baat hai don’t worry abhi dhamaal machati hoon aunty.

She asked some of hers and riya’s friends to accompany her to perform

The music started.

Sheen went and sat beside riya and started singing.

Mehendi hai rachne waali

Haantoh mein gehri laali

Kai sakhiya ab kaliya haanto mein khilne waali hai

Tere mann ko jeevan ko naayi khushiya milne waali hai.

Riya blushed listening to the song…it was portraying what she was feeling…she could see her dream coming true the dream to spend the rest of her life.

Aparna goes near riya lifts her bent face with her finger and sings.

Taaje baaje baarati

Ghoda gaadi aur haathi

Laayenge saajan tere aangan

Hariyali banni.

She then lifts her mehendi filled hand and continues.

Teri mehendi who dekhenge

Toh apna dil rakh denge

Pairon mein tere chupke se

Hariyali banni.

Sheen pulls riya in between and everybody encircles her and sing in chorus.

Mehendi hai rachne waali

Haantoh mein gehri laali

Kayi sakhiya ab kaliya

Haantoh mein khilne waali hai

Tere mann ko jeevan ko nayyi

Khushiya milne waali hai.

Riya feels shy and hugs her mother….aparna gets emotional and hugs her back tightly and whispers meri gudiya itni badi ho gayyi hai….teri bohot yaad aayegi mera baccha.

Riya’s eyes well up and she whispers mein bhi maa aapko bohot  miss karungi…and don’t worry maa I’ll come to see you everyday.

EVENING RIYA’S ROOM

Sheen and others were dressing riya up for her big day…the day when she will no longer be known as riya mukherjee but as riya arjun raute.

Riya was feeling nervous all of a sudden and she started blabbering

Sheen what if I cant keep arjun happy,what if I cant fulfill my duties as his wife and as the daughter in law of raute family what if I embarrass him sometimes what if she could not complete as sheen kept her palm on riya’s mouth and said bas bas riya tum toh rajdhani express se bhi tez ho…

don’t worry I know kit um arjun bhai se bohot pyar karti ho and you will never disappoint him and I think that arjun bhaiya has madly fallen in love with you toh I don’t think he will let you back out now…riya just blushed at that.

There was a knock at the door riya said come in and roshni entered…she came close to riya and said you look so beautiful my pari kisi ki nazar na lage and she put kaala tika behind her neck…riya smiled warmly and said thankyou di…aap yaha kya kar rahi ho I mean to say weren’t you coming with the baarat itself….

roshni’s face changed a bit slightly and said riyu I need to talk to you about something very important sheen and rest of you can you guys leave me and my sister alone for some time…everybody left the room roshni went and locked it.

Riya was feeling a bit uneasy but let it pass for now and asked roshni… di is everything fine roshni turned and said no nothing is fine riya I cant see you destroying your life like this.

Riya was confused and said di please your confusing me stop beating around the bush and come to the point.
